The Writing-Speaking Connection

Speaking and writing are inherently different; the ears perceive the one while the eyes perceive the other. The connection, then, is not the medium but the message; the connection is in communication. No matter what language or field of study, speaking and writing work in tandem to communicate between colleagues, allies, friends and family. In the Writing Fellows and Speaking Fellows programs, it is this communication through language that concerns us all. Writing Fellows and Speaking Fellows both deal with the same thing: the presentation, the composition, the communication of words.
